Who is the {YEL!} Chess Club in Hopkins for?
The {YEL!} Chess Club in Hopkins appeals to chess players who are some of the better players in their school, have competed at local {YEL!} tournaments or other chess tournaments and done well, who are interested in competing at a higher level locally and regionally, and who like a welcoming atmosphere.
If so, the {YEL!} Chess Club is for you!
The {YEL!} Chess Club is led by {YEL!}’s best coaches. For instance, National Master Nathan Hoover and National Master Tim McEntee. These coaches are dedicated to each student’s individual development as a chess player and as a good sport.
Lessons are typically studies of openings (i.e. Queen’s Gambit), endgames (i.e. Rook vs Pawn), as well as master analysis, all while keeping an eye out for tactics and strategies. Each class includes an in-depth study of a concept, analysis, and game play using timers.
